I have a 1000VA battery backup or UPS at home. I have basic devices connected to it like my cable modem, computer, and LCD monitor. I was out of town for a weekend and before going, I switched my devices off, switched the UPS off, but left it connected to the wall outlet. Other times I’ve gone out of town, I’ve shut everything off and disconnected the UPS from the wall, but this time I didn’t want to unplug it for whatever reason, When I got back, my computer wouldn’t boot due to the power supply being completely dead. Tech support said that the UPS must be switched on to provide surge protection. Is this true?
yes the tech support people were corect ………. if the UPS is switched off then it will not provide any kind of surge protection …………… and any way it is advised to disconnect the wall jack if you are going away for a long time
