SurgeX, Brickwall ...
SurgeX, Brickwall or Zero Surge FTW, I have two SurgeX units, one on my 46 inch Samsung LCD and one for my PC and all my networking equipment. Look them up- nothing beats series mode power conditioners and they don't wear out.

Most of these ...
Most of these devices employ MOV's (Metal oxide varistors) that degrade with time, and may even only last once and sacrifice themselves to save the device that is plunged into it. Look into surge protectors that have 2 or more kinds of protection Like Brick wall, Richard Gray's Power Company or PS audio make better products. BUT Belkin, Panamax, Monster, are garbage. they will protect your gear once and go into bypass mode leaving your gear unprotected. if all else fails unplug your gear!
